Finn and Raphael glanced at each other for a second before Finn drew his gun and kicked the door open. "Federal agents!" Finn barked, holding his revolver up in front of him as he lead the way into the building, knowing Raph would cover their rear. The .44 Magnum in his hands felt painfully inadequate, even though its weight was usually comforting, but he doubted even a big game rifle would've made him feel any better. "Come out with your hands where we can see them," he ordered, knowing it probably wouldn't do any good but determined not to let it get to him.

Raphael kept an eye on Jackie as he followed Finn in. He didn't have a gun, but against a Fallen, he figured magic would stand a better chance anyway. Normally, in a room so dark, Finn would call for light, but he didn't now. If he thought it would be easier to spot the Fallen, if he could see better in the dark now that his demon half had been restored, or some other reason, Raph didn't know, but he didn't call light. He just stayed ready.

"And what exactly do you intend to do to me, federal agents?" a voice in the back room asked in mocking tones. It was deep for a woman's, but there was something rather feminine about it. Finn adjusted his grip on his gun and stepped into the room, taking a sweeping look around the dimly lit and cluttered space. The Fallen was tall, tall enough that Finn was forced to look up to meet her gaze, and androgynous enough that "she" felt more like a formality than an accurate description. Seph was curled up at her feet, not moving. Her eyes were very, very blue, and she squinted at Finn. "Do you have any idea how hard it was to track you down?" she said accusingly. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Hands where I can see them," Finn snapped. She only smirked. "Is that any way to talk to your mother, Finnegan?"

Raphael and Finn both started and stared. "What?" Finn asked, the gun in his hand lowering slightly. The demon seemed focused on Finn, so Raphael turned his attention to getting them all out alive. He crouched down, pulled his folding knife out of the pocket of his jeans, and cut his right index finger. Then he started drawing one of the symbols he'd gotten Vlad to teach him that morning. "You thought I'd never come for you? Don't you know how difficult it is for angels to reproduce? I'd never waste the effort," the Fallen said. She sniffed. "You're shorter than I expected, though." "Thanks," Finn said, his gun returning to focus on her. "Why are you killing all these people?" His mother grinned. "It's what I do."

"The mother I've always dreamed of," Finn said dryly. "Do I get a name?" "I don't think so," she said. "Not until I get something first." "Which would be?" The Fallen turned her gaze to Raph for the first time. "Off your little rabbi friend." Raphael grinned at her. "Fuck off," he said, and pressed his palm into the symbol he'd painted on the ground. It began to glow very bright blue, and the Fallen shrieked in rage before the room filled with a high pitched buzz. Then there was a rustle of feathers, and silence, and the lights dimmed. She was gone. Finn holstered his gun. "We have to get out of here before she comes back."

Jackie stepped forward and crouched down next to Seph. She pressed two fingers underneath his jaw, searching for a pulse. "He's alive." She looked back at Finn and Raphael. "We can't leave him here."

"Well technically we could," Raphael said, but Finn crouched down and heaved Seph over his shoulders in a fireman's lift. "You need to eat more," he told Seph with a grunt. "Or quit the drugs," Raphael muttered, giving the room they were in a once over. He frowned. "We'll have to get someone over here. Looks like illegal smuggling." It stank too, like mildew and mold and decay and--decomposition? Raphael frowned and slipped down a narrow aisle after the smell of rot. "Raph, come on," Finn said. "I just smelled--oh." He'd smelled a fifty gallon fish tank packed with eggs of some type of merfolk. Most were dead. A few had hatched, but the baby merfolk hadn't been able to survive in that cramped tank and its dirty water. One egg, half out of the cloudy water, was still alive, and the baby inside wiggled when Raphael picked up the soft-shelled egg. It was twice the size of a soccer ball, and heavy. "I'm rescuing a baby merperson," he said, returning to the others.

"What are you going to do with a baby merperson?" Jackie said, shooing Raphael out the door and following closely behind.

"We're not going to keep it. I couldn't leave it there though, right? Especially not if we're rescuing Seph," Raphael said, leading the larger parade back towards the apartment. "I mean, it didn't do anything wrong."

"I guess," Jackie said. She followed them quietly for a minute, but then she smirked. "Shouldn't you guys at least go on a date before you have a baby?"

"If my hands weren't full of junkie I would kill you," Finn said. Raphael glanced back and grinned. "What? Aren't I pretty enough for you, Finn?" he joked.

"Wow. Is it because he's Jewish? That is so messed up, Finn," Jackie said, grinning.

"That's it. Bacon is his true love," Raphael told Jackie. "I'm not having this conversation right now. Or ever," Finn said. It wasn't funny, not one bit.

Jackie laughed. "He's baconsexual. It all makes sense now."

Finn sighed heavily. "Somebody hold the door open for me," he said as they approached his and Raphael's apartment. "That's the real reason he lives with me," Raphael told Jackie, doing as Finn asked. "I'll never eat his bacon on him."
