(I might be making another character soon. I already have a general idea for a new character, I just need to come up with a few details)

Alice walked around the dock, eavesdropping to see who was hiring. She listened to a guy and a girl talking and when he heard he wouldn't hire girls she walked up, "I heard you were hiring." She said putting her hands on her hips.

Dalla rolled her eyes. Several ships had already told her they wouldn't have her on the boat because she was a woman. She looked back up at him, eyeing the spinning wheel he'd been working on. "And having you on the boat is not?"

Thorn grinned. "I make up for it," he said. He looked at the new arrival and sighed. "You have one measly little job and suddenly everyone shows up."

"So, are you hiring or not?" Alice asked, putting her weight on one foot. She didn't look like she belonged on a boat, she was smaller and thin, like she would break in a minute. "I'm good with navigation."

Form: Name: Banto (no last name, just Banto) Gender: male Age: 30 Height: 6'3" Position on Ship: berserker Personality/past: Originally from Africa, he was captured as a young boy and sold into slavery. As a teen, he was sold to a mercenary group in the Arabian desert and perfected the art of swordsmanship. Now, he's been brought to Birka to be sold as a berserker for the viking ships. Personality-wise, he is friendly but reserved. He respect those he serves, is superstitious, and extremely dangerous when provoked or threatened. Pic/Description: sorry if the pic is huge. Also, Banto has little tolerance for sarcastic, bitter, or snarky people...so he and Thorn are probably going to be at each other's throats.

Thorn grinned. "I make up for it," he said. He looked at the new arrival and sighed. "You have one measly little job and suddenly everyone shows up." "As do I," Dalla replied. She looked over at the young girl who had appeared, then back at the man. "I can fight, and sail."

(Heehee, I am excited for Banto now. ALSO he's probably going to have the whole Evil Eye superstition going on and Thorn's a witch with very light eyes, so that could be fun.) Thorn smirked. "Well, I suppose I can't be the only lady on the ship," he said. "What are your names?"

"Dalla Albinsson," Dalla replied.

"Alice." She said and held out her hand for him to shake, "At your service."

Thorn put his spindle in his pocket and slipped off the ship's railing onto the dock. "Thorn Katlasson," he said, taking Alice's offered hand. "And this is the Heart of the Sea, captained by Thorkil Bodilsen. We sail later this afternoon, so if you've any business before we go, best do it now."
(And just as an fyi, Katla's a female name, so his last name's informing you he's a bastard.)

"You got a funny name." Alice said smiling at him as if it was a compliment.

Thorn turned and gave Alice a glare that could have frozen a hearth fire. "It's not too late to unhire you," he said.

Alice smiled, "Can you find your way out in the middle of the ocean with nothing but stars?" She wanted to make sure they needed a navigator before she did something incredibly stupid.

"I know the stars, and Thorkil knows them better," Thorn said. He raised one eyebrow and added, "This is not our first voyage, little girl."
