Alice knew she could be fired but she didn't care, she elbowed Thorn, "Don't be rude." She said harshly but almost ended up saying something about the boy also, he was so small.

(Lol, he's got like five inches on little Aquil!)
Kareem stepped aside, pulling Aquila with him, in order to allow Thorn to brush past and greet the large blonde man. Thorkil, the captain, was imposing in pure size, but otherwise did not look too intimidating. He seemed jovial, even. Kareem's eyes moved from the captain to the tall young woman following Thorn. She was pretty, but the overconfident way she spoke, and how much she spoke, was unbecoming, Kareem thought.

Gunnar squeaked, but fought the urge to hide behind Thorkil. These people all smelled like mushrooms and looked like they wanted to hurt him...but surely they wouldn't try anything with the captain around. "My name is Gunnar Braaten," he offered.

"Thorn," Thorkil said. Thorn shut up. "Gunnar's father is an old friend of mine. He'll be on the ship with us. How many sailors did you find me?"
"Four," Thorn said. They were close enough to the ship that he could point them out as he named them.
"Not much in the way of muscle, huh?" Thorkil asked.
"If you wanted the strapping manly type you shouldn't have left the seiĆ°r-man," Thorn pointed out. Thorkil snorted.
"Get your goat. I'll get us another pair of hands," Thorkil said, and headed back to the slave pens. Thorn unconciously rubbed the scar at his collar before snapping at Alice and Gunnar.
"You heard the man. To the ship."

"What is that?" Alice asked, talking about the scar, she didn't move to the ship though. "What's the scar from?" Her voice was soft.

"Get. On. The. Ship," Thorn said, glaring at Alice and dropping his hand. He turned his back to her and started haggling with the goat merchant instead.

Gunnar scuttled onto the ship after the others. One of the people on the ship looked to be about his age, though he could not tell if it was a boy or a girl. He smiled halfheartedly.
Banto kept his face impassive as the slave trader shouted to the new man approaching. "Captain Thorkil, sir!" the slaver called. "You in need of some muscle for your crew, eh? I have only the finest slaves available, straight from Northern Africa." Banto grunted. He had not been to Africa since he was a small boy.

Alice got on the ship like she was told and walked right up to Gunner, "I'm Alice." She said smiling and holding out her hand for him to shake.

Dalla sat quietly on the ship, watching the others board. None of them really looked much like sailors, but who was she to judge?

"Uh, nice to meet you," Gunnar replied, shaking Alice's hand. Her grip about crushed his spindly fingers. He wiggled his fingers gently, trying to work the feeling back into them. "Have you ever been on a ship before?"

Alice almost laughed at his wimpy grip, "Yes, many times, and you?" She asked biting her tounge to not say something she would regret.

Kareem met the younger boy's eye. "Do not look so nervous," he said, giving him a friendly slap on the shoulder. "If you or my brother here falls into the sea, the sharks will leave you alone. You are too skinny to be worth their time." He grinned. The corner of Aquila's mouth twitched, but she didn't say anything. Instead she surveyed the two women who had boarded. They were both tall, nearly a foot taller than herself. The younger one was as loud and forward as the older was quiet and serious.

(Oh gosh Kareem. XD)
Thorkil didn't miss the grunt from one of the slaves at the slaver's words, which told him two things: he spoke Norse, and he was smart. "Is that so?" he asked the slaver, and they went through the whole dance of salesmanship until he had managed to purchase the slave who'd caught his eye earlier.
Thorn didn't bring his goat on the ship. On the dock he knelt down in front of it and held its face in his left hand, chanting a prayer to Thor and Aegir, god of the sea. It was easy to hypnotize it--goats didn't have minds like humans did. Once it was in a trance, Thorn drew his seax and slit its throat.

"Gee, that's a comforting thought," Gunnar muttered. He didn't bother to mention that he couldn't swim either...no need to embarrass himself any more than he had to right now.
Banto looked over the man who had bought him. Thorkil, the slaver had called him. He seemed like a friendly enough man, though slaves were not expected to be friends with their masters. At the very least, Banto got the impression that Thorkil was a fair captain. He nodded once as the slaver released him and handed his collar and chains over to Thorkil.

Alice looked at the guy, "That won't happen." She said and then looked down at Gunnar, he would be a toothpick for sharks. She looked over and saw Thorn kill the goat, that would've tasted good, she snuck off the boat to him, "Seriously, what is the scar from?" She asked Thorn.
