(Picturing Thorn flouncing so hard. XD Is he supposed to be Loki-ish? Because I'm getting that devious diva vibe.)
Kareem and Aquila nodded at the captain. Aquila looked up into his bearded face. She was still getting used to the tall, pale, people in this part of the world, so different from the normal-sized, tan people in Al-Andalus. Thorkil seemed like a giant, but she liked him at once.

(Ahaha. He is, but moreso the mythological Loki than the Marvel one. Who is even more of a devious diva if you can believe it. XD )
Thorkil grinned. "We'll see," he told Alice. "Let's get moving," he called out.

"I like you and its fun bothering Thorn." Alice told Thorkil, smiling as she got on the ship.

Banto scowled at the witch-man and the girl with the knife. As a slave, it was not his place to reprimand them, nor was it acceptable for him to carry a weapon without the consent of his master. He did know how to use a sword, but for now, a scowl was the best he could do.
Some color had begun returning to Gunnar's face after the almost-fight. He hated blood, and violence. His father had been friends with Thorkil, he kept reminding himself.

Thorkil looked at Alice in surprise, but said, "Don't bother him too much. He doesn't always think." He started preparing the ship to leave, calling out orders to the crew.

Once everyone was on the boat, Aquila looked around at the crew that towered over her. Even Gunnar, as scrawny as he was compared to the other vikings, had nearly half a foot on her, and the rest of them made even her brother look small, and at home Kareem had been one of the taller young men she knew. She grit her teeth and pulled her hat a little lower over her face and the fur collar of her coat tighter around her neck.
When Thorkil took command and began to give out instructions, Aquila found herself carrying a stiff coil of rope to the rear of the vessel, where she had to duck around the slave. When she had secured the line, she looked up at him. He was huge, like the captain, but he was as dark as Thorkil was pale. She had seen men like him before, and she knew his people came from a desert like hers. Aquila said hello to him in Arabic, careful to keep her voice low.

"I can see that, he hired me." Alice muttered and got to work. She climbed the mast and hung upside down by her legs, doing something. She laughed, enjoying the blood rushing to her head.
(Because it seems like something Alice would do and I couldn't think of something for her to do up there XD)

Banto looked down at the small boy who had just spoken to him...or, rather, the girl who was masquerading as one. Life as a slave had only sharpened his observation skills and it had not taken him long to pick up on the fact that the crew's smallest member was no boy. She had spoken in Arabic, a language he knew but would wager that most of those on the ship did not. He thought about asking her why she was pretending to be a boy, but thought better of it and instead returned her greeting. "Where are you from?" he asked in soft Arabic, so that only she could hear him.
Gunnar did not know what to do on the ship, feeling as if he were in the way. When it lurched forward, he let out a squeak and clung to the ship's mast for dear life before realizing how silly he must have appeared. He was sure to be the laughingstock of the sea, at this rate.

Thorn grinned when Gunnar clung to the mast. "You'll never get your sea legs at this rate," he said, peeling the skinnier boy away. "Besides, you have work to do."

Alice looked down from the mast at Gunnar, "You're going to have a great time on a ship." She said, still upside-down and her hands working on some rope.

A shy smile spread across Aquila's face when the slave responded, even while his keen dark stare made her a little nervous. It was the first time since fleeing from home that she had heard someone other than Kareem speaking her native tongue. It was nice to hear the familiar words, even if he spoke them with an accent she had not heard before. "Alcala," she answered. "In Al-Andalus."
Kareem hauled on a line to raise a sail. He looked over at the captain at the helm. "To where are we sailing?" he asked.
ooc:Alcala is a spanish city (where I lived!) that was populated by arabs during the time of the Moors, and Al-Andalus is the Arabic name for Spain when it was controlled by the Moors.

"South, and then west," Thorkil said to Kareem. "To Copenhagen."

"Copenhagen?" Gunnar's eyes widened. He had never traveled farther than...well, farther than he had right now. He busied himself coiling up some rope and just tidying the ship up in general.
Alcala. Banto had heard of it, but had never actually been there.

"I hate Copenhagen," Thorn announced. Thorkil, steering the ship, rolled his eyes.
"You hate everywhere," he pointed out.

Alice looked down from where she was, "Why?" She wondered out loud.
